The Literary Translation at Columbia (LTAC), an integral part of the Columbia University MFA Writing Program, extends the opportunity for all Writing students to delve into the realm of literary translation through coursework.
LTAC isn’t structured as a formal translator-training initiative; rather, it emerged from the conviction that exposure to literary translation enriches a writer’s growth and creativity. Conversely, the skills honed in effective writing are also indispensable in translation. Each semester, LTAC offers workshops, seminars, and master classes in literary translation, accessible to all students enrolled in the Writing Program. Additionally, when space permits, students from other graduate programs on campus are welcome to participate.
